Crane Hotline: Synthetic Solution

A Synthetic Solution

Slingmax Twin-Path synthetic slings and equalizer blocks played a crucial role in the fast-track reconstruction of Pittsburgh’s Fern Hollow Bridge, ensuring safe and efficient lifting of 100-USt precast concrete beams. Used in an inverted basket rigging configuration, these high-performance slings connected the rigging to each end of the 154’9″ beams, allowing for precise placement. This project highlights the reliability and strength of synthetic rigging solutions in critical infrastructure projects.

The reconstruction effort required a specialized approach due to the weight and size of the beams, as well as the need for precision in their placement. The use of Twin-Path slings, known for their lightweight design and high strength, allowed for safer and more efficient handling compared to traditional wire rope slings. The equalizer blocks further contributed to load distribution, minimizing stress points and ensuring stability during lifting operations. This combination of advanced rigging solutions was essential for maintaining safety standards and meeting the project’s accelerated timeline.
